Where to start with a 1930's dress code?

1930's America is an easy style to replicate without hiring a costume using contemporary styles or accessorising. Ideas: 42nd Street, Bringing Up Baby, Bugsy Malone
Ladies
Dressing upAny long dress cut on the bias, often with v-necks, scoop necks and/or low backs. Or culotte style trousers and tops with flowing sleeves.
Or simply accessorise
A cigarette holder, faux fur bolero, pearl necklaces, gloves, small 1930's style hats and hairpieces.
Ideas: Ginger Rogers, Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn.
Men
Dressing upDouble breasted suits or single-breasted pin-stripes were popular. With plain shoes, two-tone shoes and a trilby.
Or simply accessorise
Trilby, cigar, braces over a shirt and tie, violin cases, gun holsters.
