Where to start with a 1930's dress code?

1930's America is an easy style to replicate without hiring a costume using contemporary styles or accessorising. Ideas: 42nd Street, Bringing Up Baby, Bugsy Malone

Ladies
Dressing up
Any long dress cut on the bias, often with v-necks, scoop necks and/or low backs. Or culotte style trousers and tops with flowing sleeves.
Or simply accessorise
A cigarette holder, faux fur bolero, pearl necklaces, gloves, small 1930's style hats and hairpieces.
Ideas: Ginger Rogers, Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn.

Men
Dressing up
Double breasted suits or single-breasted pin-stripes were popular. With plain shoes, two-tone shoes and a trilby.
Or simply accessorise
Trilby, cigar, braces over a shirt and tie, violin cases, gun holsters.
Ideas: Clark Gable, Fred Astaire, The Untouchables, The Sting

wedding list

Folk have asked us if we're having a wedding list. We're not asking anyone to get anything for us - we've been living in sin for six years now, so we're doing ok for toasters and cutlery sets. If you do want to give something, we'd really appreciate it if you gave something to Oxfam and helped some people who need it more than we do. Goats etc. can be ordered at the link below.

Mi casa... mi casa, actually

It comes to my attention that not everyone lives in London. I know, , I know, it shocked me too. I suppose this means that there's a vague possibility that not everyone coming to the wedding lives in London either, so some people might need a place to stay.

If you are needing a place to stay, there is a bit of floorspace knocking around the Islington area that we can open up to people (sleeping in the gutter is so last season) so give us a shout if you think you'll need to use it.

Brighton contingent - last train home is 1am from Victoria. But you'll obviously have more fun if you stay at the club until the end...
